***Now here is what you are all waiting for***
ATTENTION: U2 CD BOOTLEG FANS!!!
The wait is over!!!
The September 1998 edition of the 'FOR LOVE OR MONEY?: A Guide To U2
Bootleg
CDs' (or simply "FLOM") is now complete and ready for free download!!!
This
time, as with the December 1997 edition, the September 1998 edition is
available
in two different versions: The Alphabetical Version and The
Chronological
Version. Both versions contain the exact same reviews, but the
Chronological version also adds the "pseudo-Official" 'Salome' Liner
Notes.
Aside from that, there is little difference in the two versions of the
FLOM
Guide. Both versions currently contain reviews for 522 U2 bootleg
CDs!!!
This figure includes reprints, but not repressings. To put that figure
of
522 into perspective, if you actually printed out the FLOM Guide (using
no
top-bottom or left-right margins) the Alphabetical version would come
out to
be 512 pages, and the Chronological version would come out to be a
whopping
610 pages!!! (To say that I have been busy for the last 8 months would
be
an understatement!)
>From now on, the most current TEXT versions of this guide can always be
found
at the Wire (U2 mailing list) www site:
http://www.gartholamew.com/MailingLists/u2-list/flom/text/
The filenames will be as follows:
boot-rev.txt: The latest Alphabetical version, ~1174K+, text file
bootrev2.txt: The latest Chronological version, ~1402K+, text file
boot-rev.zip: The latest Alphabetical version, ~285K+, zipped file
bootrev2.zip: The latest Chronological version, ~341K+, zipped file
Or each file directly:
http://www.gartholamew.com/MailingLists/u2-list/flom/text/boot-rev.zip
http://www.gartholamew.com/MailingLists/u2-list/flom/text/bootrev2.zip
http://www.gartholamew.com/MailingLists/u2-list/flom/text/boot-rev.txt
http://www.gartholamew.com/MailingLists/u2-list/flom/text/bootrev2.txt
If you are running Windows 3.1, 95, or NT 4.0, all you have to do is go
to
the above directory, point your mouse to the desired file, "right click"
the
right mouse button, and select the "save as" option on the menu. Create
a
filename (preferably the same filename you are downloading) on your hard
drive in a desired directory, and you're in business!
I am sorry, but I cannot e-mail anyone any of these files, so PLEASE do
not ask me to do so, I will ignore any requests such as this. Please
make
other arrangements if you do not have web access.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take the time to read the first seven sections of
either version of the new September 1998 edition of the FLOM Guide. I
would
have just included much of those sections here, but that would waste my
time
and yours. The first seven sections of the FLOM Guide explain
everything
that you will find new and exciting in this edition (including
information
about CD-Rs) and future editions of the FLOM Guide. Any questions that
you might send me which can be answered in the first seven sections of
the
FLOM Guide will not be responded to. (Praise and accolades are always
much appreciated, though. heh heh)
'For Love Or Money' is available on the web! The URL for this guide is:
(http://www.erols.com/breck/flom) but we will soon be migrating over to:
(http://www.u2-flom.com). Bob and I have been working feverishly
to complete both the text and HTML versions of this guide over the past
month or two. The HTML version still contains, as closely as possible,
the exact same content as the new September 1998 edition of the FLOM
Guide.
A very special "Thank You" to Joel Abbott all of his technical help over
the
years (and especially days). Without his generosity, the on-line
version of
FLOM would not have been possible at this time.
If you wish to create a link from your homepage to the FLOM homepage,
please link it to the main URL (http://www.erols.com/breck/flom/ for now
and soon http://www.u2-flom.com) and those URLs ONLY! I can't stress
how
important this request is to us and there is a good reason for it. If
we find
any links that go directly to a particular page of FLOM (other than the
URLs
above), we will politely ask you to change it, and if it's not changed,
then
we will ask in a not so polite manner. Please, it's really not to much
to
ask. Also, if you have a link to the old (very old) FLOM page at the
URL:
(http://www.erols.com/breck/flom/flommain.html), that page is gone and
your link WILL NOT work anymore. Please change them... Now do you see
ONE of
the reasons we ask that you link to the homepage? That's all we ask.
Thanks
for your support.
The September 1998 edition of 'FOR LOVE OR MONEY?: A Guide To U2 Bootleg
CDs' contains about 75 updates and 90 NEW reviews, and most of them are
from the PopMart tour!
Well, that about does it for me. I hope you like it.
Thanks for everything and enjoy the rest of your summer (or winter, you
Aussies)!
Sincerely,
Mike Gentile
