Just came across this little quote from a 1985 interview U2 did ...

"For me, that term 'pop' is like a candy bar," Edge said. "You buy it
because you like it, you eat it, and then you throw it away. It has no
long-term meaning or value. Our music and the music I enjoy has
long-term value."
