Those of you who live in Minnesota are probably aware that there was a
free Smashing Pumpkins concert in downtown Minneapolis on July 17th.
The reason I'm bringing this up is because I had heard the U2 currently
holds the record for the largest concert, for their Popmart show in
Italy which drew 125,000 people. Prior to the Smashing Pumpkins show in
MN, the radio station 100.3, who provided the Pumpkins with their stage
in MN, hyped up the concert big time, and claimed that their would be
between 100,000 to 200,000 people in attendance. After the show, I
heard on WCCO, a large news and talk radio station that the concert drew
an espimated 47,000 people. 100.3 however, who has continuosly claimed
to be the "greatest" station in the world for bringing the Pumkins to
MN, has started claiming that there were 150,000 people in attendence.
Personnally I believe WCCO, since I was there and it didn't look like
150,000 people, plus I feel that 100.3 simply doesn't want to admit that
the concert wasn't that good and that they hyped it up like it was the
second coming. Anyways, my point is, if 100.3 is able to convince the
rest of the world that there were 150,000 people there, will this break
U2's record? Since the Pumkins show was free, I'm not sure if it will
actually count, but if it does, then I think we should all do our best
to stop 100.3 from continueing on with its lie. Thank you for your
time.
