u2 then and now

well, the u2 of the 1980s was great, but so is the current sound. i mean, in
my opinion they have gone father instrumentally and lyrically, and bono has
experimented with his voice and using its subtleties rather than pure power.
one of the great things about u2 is that they never made the same album twice,
you know? they always went farther and did something new. now in concerts
edge, adam, and larry don't just play the written music, as the did in
concerts from the early stages, and i agree with whoever said that adam is now
moving his fingers around the bass a little more. as for bono's voice, in
83-87 years he was basically belting it out and hitting all those notes on
pure power, which produced amazing results, but you can't do that for a long
period of time, and he is getting older and so he had to adjust. but now he
has got new textures and tones, and a great falsetto in exchange. pop is an
interesting album, and i agree that it doesn't have that one great anthemic
song to fill up the stadium, but rather it is a cumulative effect of all the
songs. it is an incredible album, but you have to listen to the whole thing,
not just a little bit, and listen well to get the effect. pop is a great
album, and it is not a techno album in my opinion because i have heard techno
and this is not it.
