I'm sure it was a dream for Bono! But, no you didn't imagine it. I
remembered the article right away. It was a little snippet from the
three pages devoted to U2 in the Star Hits 1988 Yearbook (page 8)
which read:

"As a 27th birthday present for Bono, the group flew his wife Alison
to New Jersey and, to add to the surprise, delivered her to his room
in an upright fridge container."
