I first saw U2 during the 87 Joshua Tree tour. I think in a lot of ways
it was the best of the 3 I saw (ZOOtv and Popmart).. The others were
awesome too.. but I think the first time you see them is the best! When
you listen to their music it is great but I feel you only really start
to apprciate the music when you see them in concert.. so the first time
is always special. Popmart was really cool and I took it as tongue in
cheek and that is the exact opposite of the JT tour. During that time
they were serious (or at least their public image was) and they were
into political and social issues so I think everyone at the concerts
during that time felt as if they were together for more than just the
music.... There was a feeling of togetherness that was missing in
Popmart, for me. I remember in 1987 everyone walking out with their
arms around each other singing 40 all the way throught the parking lot
of the stadium.. It was unbelievable.. I miss that.. but they are still
the best band on the planet and I love their new stuff as well. No one
can stay the same forever so I am happy they are moving on!! Can't wait
for the next one!
Thanks Lisa
