1. in IGWSHA, do the words 'His mother dealing in a doorway' have somthing
to do with gambling?
The words "dealing in a doorway" refer to dealing, or selling/buying, illegal
drugs.
2. in IGWSHA: i couldn't figure out what a 'begging bowl' is (same line as
no. 1)
I'm not exactly sure what this means, but I'm pretty sure it involves a
container used to beg for food or another type of hand-out, like money.
3. in IGWSHA 'Jesus used to show me the score': the word 'score' has to do
with sport language or maybe with music language or what else?
In this line, I think it means that Jesus used to be able to tell him (her?)
what was going on, the speaker could depend on him for the truth (the line
before this says,"Jesus never let me down." Go with that.).
Does that clear things up?
On quite another note:
"Just had to comment on this whole homosexuality and the Bible thing, I
believe that the Bible is quite clear on this issue
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do
not
be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor adulterers nor male
prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor
drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
Note that homosexuality is not listed as being worse than any of these other
things, nor is hatred preached against people sinning in this way! Any of
these sins can be forgiven and sanctified through Jesus Christ if we turn to
him! Also, the Bible makes it clear that Christians are to act towards these
people with love and compassion, not hatred and persecution! For, after
all,
we are just as sinful and unworthy of salvation as they are!"
Okay, so maybe it's just me, but I have had quite enough of this
homosexuality/Bible stuff. This has been going on for well over a week, and I
must say that it has lost it's appeal. Can we stop this, please? It has
nothing to do with U2 and really doesn't accomplish much. If you need to talk
about this, i'm sure that there are other places online for that kind of thing
and you can always email privately. And please stop forcing your religious
beliefs on others!! That is one of my pet peeves! I'm not just referring to
the person I quoted, but to several others who feel that it is their duty to
"spread the (sometimes hateful) gospel" on a u2 wire list.
It's very inappropriate and I get very touchy(I'm sure that's obvious by
now:). Can we please stick to talking about the greatest rock band on the
planet?
On a lighter note, I find this discussion about MJ/U2 really funny. Go easy on
the poor (figuratively speaking) athlete. He's probably too busy wondering
which commercial he's doing next or how many championships he's won or where
to put the millions (billions?) he's received---in an savings account or
should he buy stock? Seriously, it's possible that he didn't know who U2 were
for a perfectly understandable reason. Or maybe he was just buried for a while
under all his money...:)
Have an incredible day!
